Back in the days when I was a teacher I had my kids pick a special person this time of year and write a heartfelt letter of gratitude to them.  Not a lightweight three liner or a text, but a MULTI paragraphed letter expressing true appreciation.  I need to sit down and do the same this year myself.  In the meantime, here are the things I’m feeling thankful for right now.

• Doing my morning routine in silence and hearing my daughter’s sweet songs wafting down the hall from her bedroom each morning
• Feeling proud of my husband for being a man about the right things no matter what comes his way.
• Friday mornings when the garbage truck comes around and seeing the look of immediacy on Kierian’s face as he hears it in our hood.  Cora, K and I rush around to pull our jackets over our pj’s and run out to the street so we can watch the truck collect garbage.  Kierian is both mesmerized and terrified by the thing.  He shakes and screams with glee watching it every Friday morning.
• Crock-pot season
• My friend Kylie’s thoughtful post appreciating my Mama and a few others for being a kick-ass Moms growing up..
• A working dishwasher!
• Flannel sheets
• Incredible, smart, sensitive, funny and strong women friends who make life and parenting so much fun.
• Playin’ in the leaves and hot cocoa apres play

• A night to ourselves this weekend…trip to Grandma and Grandpa Vernon’s for a night for the wee ones!

I’m off for a little meditation retreat for a short stint, so in honor of that, I’m gonna do top ten today.  Hope you have at least ten things that make you happy today…
