I am still crawling out of the enormous black hole I created for myself this weekend.  At least, I think it was last weekend.  What the hell day is it anyway?  Sheesh.  Luke’s sister is getting married soon and this past weekend was her bachelorette party.  And I really tied one on. Pretty sure we all did.

We started out in a hotel room in Downtown Denver with a few drinks, made our way to LIME restaurant where we drank “Skinny Margaritas” (code for straight alcohol, no sweet stuff.  Code for the sickest thing you’ve ever swallowed).  And then we rode this hilarious thing around town that was like a pub on bicycle wheels from bar to bar to bar.

It was quite fun and I think the bride-to-be had a hell of a time.  But as for my crotchety old self, I am still sweating alcohol and requiring naps. Being that I’ve been pregnant for the past 4 years, I am way the fuck out of practice.  Three drinks totally did me in.   Totally.

Also, I had this moment where I realized that I was the oldest hag in the room.  I used to make fun of chics who were old and tried to act young.  Like that’d never be me kind of a thing.  Well, turns out that’s exactly who I am.  All the twenty-somethings slapped me fives because I was “totally a cougar.”  Shit man.

So if you are out of your twenties, follow this advice and I promise it’ll add years onto your life:

• Go enjoy more than a few drinks within a few hours
• Wear heals that aren’t comfortable around town for those hours
• Stay awake til 3 am and rise at your usual, 7 am because you can’t shake your internal kid clock
• Pound Doritos at like 2 am, at least three bags
• And then go home to your family and try to cook and clean and take care of your kids

And I promise, you’ll feel 300 years old in no time!

Imagine two right next to each other. For those who don't follow, just trust me on this one.

A sad state of affairs really.  Never before have fake ta-ta’s seemed so, I donno, logical.

I’ve never been blessed with a huge rack, but I was fine with my tiny, and ever so perky set.  But man, these kids have really done a number on me.   I keep on breastfeeding half for my kid and half for myself.  At least that gives me a little lift…in the morning anyway.   And once breastfeeding is over for realzies, I’m in trouble.  I tend to look like a teenage boy.  So I think I’ll keep going til Kierian’s fifteen.  I am from Boulder after all.

Just feelin’ thankful today for the push-up bra…

• trips back and forth to Ithaca, NY and Colorado during our 3.5 years of dating long distance..
• Summers in Boulder during college…running, eating sushi, hiking 14′ers, backpacking and biking (man we did a lot pre-kids)
• Luke calling my parent’s house and singing messages to me on their answering machine (pre-cell phone era)
• Moving in together on the Upper West Side in NYC once both of us were done with college
• Getting engaged in Central Park just three months after living together (I thought we needed to wait to get engaged until we’d lived together for at least three months.  Three months to the day almost, we were engaged–sweet Luker)
• Feeling like New York was “our city” being there just the two of us
• Leaving our jobs in NYC to travel in New Zealand for some time, realizing that life is bigger than jobs..
• Landing jobs in Boulder and buying our first little condo right next to the trails, promising we’d never move farther away from the trails (so far, we’ve maintained it!)
• Getting Married in July of 2005 then traveling to India/Nepal for our honeymoon
• Getting two dogs together
• Traveling through Thailand together in 2007
• Having our babes together
• Road trips (that have now morphed into flight trips) every Thanksgiving
• Enjoying Boulder summers together…swimming pool, hiking, biking/busing to happy hour, road-trips to the mountains, night time picnics in random parks, camping and more…

How lucky I am to have found such a great partner.  And gosh, how quickly time goes by…

Dog owners with yards, you know what I’m talking about…

Luke and I did a little bit of overdue yard work yesterday and I was on poop duty.  Being that I pretty much deal in poop with two young kids, I was fine with it.  But Lord, you should have seen the bags I walked away with.  And Manali just sat there and watched.

Unlike this helpful animal.

You see, we get lazy come winter.  We let that shit fester all season long.  It just sits out there and collects, freezes, thaws, freezes again gets lost in the snow.  And then shit on again.  It’s really something.  Can you imagine we had two dogs at one point?  Sweet Jesus.

If shit piles were land mines, I’d have blown to smithereens within the first two strides.  Though most of it had fossilized and merely crumbled into a fine powder as I attempted to extract it from our lawn, I still walked away with two bags each heavier than our two year old.

I’ll tell ya one thing, there was more poo out there than eggs yesterday.  That’s for sure.
